Ce modèle en 3 dimensions, agrandi 2.500 fois, représente une cellule nerveuse motrice au sein d’un milieu de neurones interactifs et d’une fibre musculaire du squelette. L’enveloppe membraneuse est sectionnée du neurone afin de mettre à jour la fine structure cytologique, les organelles et les inclusions au sein du corps cellulaire. Les ramifications des dentrites, les synapses communicantes et un axone entouré de myéline avec un étranglement de Ranvier, s’élèvent sur la surface du neurone. Une partie de l’axone peut s’enlever afin de mettre à jour les couches étroitement serrées de la gaine de myéline l’entourant et la gaine de Schwann ainsi que la cellule de Schwann, à partir de laquelle celles-ci se sont formées.
